School Toilets Project
King Norton Girls School Year 11 girls’ toilets
The works were completed during the Easter half term break and consisted of a 2 week programme.
We carried out a complete washroom refurbishment of the year 11 girls and male staff toilet. This included total strip out, ceilings, tiling, lighting, ventilation, IPS system, cubicles, vanity and sanitary ware. All completed in a 2 week period.
The Client wanted to move away from the standard toilet cubicle system as they found after speaking with the pupils that many of them wanted more privacy in a luxurious, reliably working environment. Therefore, an anti vandal floor to ceiling solution was required.
We decided to build ‘stud wall’ constructed ply lined cubicles which where then finished with tiles. All cisterns were hidden behind our IPS systems, which incorporated automatic flushes to stop the toilets being flooded and to save water. The lighting, ventilation, taps and soap dispensers were all sensor controlled to reduce costs and potential wastage and breakage.
This was a very demanding project due to the time constraints and the amount of work involved with the style of cubicles but was completed to a very high standard, one day in advance of the deadline.
The school were very pleased with the standard of work and the quality of the finish, which I am sure they themselves would tell you. The success of this project led to us doing the sixth form toilets to the same specification.
